Many people wait a lifetime to get a glimpse of their legacy. It only took McKenzie Thompson nine years. McKenzie, played an integral role in her school’s first, and now forever, Heritage Celebration Day.
McKenzie said her idea came about because of Ross Principal Lisa Greenstein and the school’s Character Council wanted to have ideas on how to make the school better.
McKenzie gave it some thought and realized her school has many students of different cultures and they should celebrate that.
“Our principal was asking for ideas about what we could do,” McKenzie said. “I said maybe we could have a day where people wear where their culture is, like what their heritage is, and have an assembly to celebrate it.”
