“Take a Black Boy to Church Day” is a national effort to help stop the silent genocide of young black men by connecting them with mentors and encouraging spiritual development.
This breakfast is as important as anything we do,” said Phillip Jackson, who runs Chicago’s Black Star Project, a community organization that promotes involvement in the lives and education of children. Encouraging church attendance is “an effort to lift many black boys and young black men from self-destructive behaviors to self-driven and positive self-directed behaviors,” Jackson said.
