Through innovation, guerilla marketing, and new technology, black directors have raised the curtain in Tinseltown.
These days, an Academy Award is not the only prize that eludes black filmmakers. Getting a film made and distributed has become a rare occurrence as well. Of the 558 feature films that were released in 2009, eight were filmed by black directors and two of them were creations of stage and big screen powerhouse Tyler Perry.
