Bethel legislator Jason Bartlett is leading the effort to require teens to stay in high school until they are 18. Now they can leave at 16 with a parent’s permission.
Educators support the intention. But they also think the effort to engage students must be done when students are younger and that uncooperative teens won’t benefit.
Bartlett said his two sons recently graduated from high school, so he knows it can be a struggle to keep students in school.
