Wilson found her inspiration in the headlines again, this time from 1962 Birmingham. “The Good Negro” probes the rivalries, prejudices and sometimes questionable tactics of three basically selfless black men as they struggle to give momentum to the civil rights movement. Orbiting the trio are characters from the Klan, the FBI and a fearful populace. Lead roles evoke Martin Luther King, Jr., Ralph Abernathy and Coretta Scott King.
