More than 2,000 INROADS Interns participated in the one-day event designed to build their leadership skills, while simultaneously serving their communities. Interns across the country were involved in all aspects of planning, coordination and execution of their local National Day events. Local service projects took place across the nation at organizations such as food banks, homeless shelters, schools, senior centers, and assisted living facilities.

“We believe that outstanding leadership begins with giving back,” said Pipier Bewlay, Senior Vice President of Training and HR. “It is a part of our core mission, and what our founder emphasized nearly 40 years ago.”

The National Day of Service combined a keynote speaker and a panel discussion with a local service event.

INROADS Interns receive year-round coaching and training to compliment their internships, providing valuable leadership training experiences that make them valuable employees upon college graduation. In addition to that training, this event allowed them to take time out to learn about issues in their communities and what they can do to serve. This one-day event demonstrated not only the INROADS commitment to and belief in the importance of community service, but also the difference that just one day’s collective effort can make in communities across the nation. It also allows INROADS Interns to impact communities and demonstrate to others the willingness of young people to have a role in enhancing their community.

INROADS partners with the nation’s leading corporations helping them recruit, train and place talented minority youth in corporate internships. The students learn first-hand the competencies they need to succeed in business, while the companies take advantage of the opportunity to mold these students into their ideal managers and executives.

Founded in 1970, INROADS, Inc. is the nation’s largest non-profit source of salaried corporate internships for excelling Black, Hispanic/Latino and Native American Indian college students. INROADS has graduated over 21,000 leaders, providing them with the professional skills and competencies necessary to be successful in advanced careers. With over 40 offices throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, INROADS trains and places over 2,000 young men and women each year in salaried corporate internships. Since 1993, INROADS has consistently been named one of “America’s Top 10 Internships.” INROADS top corporate clients include UTC, Deloitte, PwC, MetLife, Target, and Liberty Mutual.
