Thousands of African-American high school students gathered at the University of Illinois at Chicago on Saturday looking to find out about college and scholarship opportunities.
They met with more than 150 higher education officials during the seventh annual College Scholarship Fair hosted by the mentoring group 100 Black Men of Chicago Inc.
“Today’s event, in many ways, we call life-changing,” said Jeffrey Jackson, the group’s president. “This event has generated almost $20 million in scholarships over the past six years.”
